Columbus Farmers’ Market on Aug. 10 featuring A Taste of Olives and Grapes pairing and tasting event

The Columbus Farmers’ Market will feature a pairing and tasting event by A Taste of Olives and Grapes from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10.

The Tryon-based business will offer samplings of balsamic vinegar and olive oils. Jessica Phillips also will pair A Taste of Olive and Grapes’ 25 Star Dark Balsamic in a green bean and cherry tomato salad topped with local bacon seasoned by Tryon Mountain Farms’ Hibiscus Chili Garlic Salt.

The Columbus Farmers’ Market is held from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday through Nov. 2 in the parking lot of the Polk County Courthouse in Columbus. The market features seasonal fruits and vegetables, meats, fish, eggs, value added products such as cakes, pies, jams, jellies and quiches and handmade crafts.

Other upcoming special events at the Columbus Farmers’ Market include Drenda Brennan of Huney Grams Honey Bees setting up set her Observation Hive and offering educational talks throughout the market day on Aug. 24. Check for updates on Facebook and at the Polk County Farms website.
