Community encouraged to attend Opioid and Substance Misuse Forum on March 20

Everyone is invited to attend an Opioid and Substance Misuse Forum organized by Polk County Local Government from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 20 at Polk County Middle School at 321 Wolverine Trail in Mill Spring.

In October, the community gathered to listen, learn and network in an effort to further address the issues of addiction and substance misuse.

As part of that effort, Polk County Government and other community partners collectively made a commitment to not stop there but to move the work forward with an attainable action plan based on the forum participants’ input.

Several community groups have begun to analyze the data from the first forum and have started to connect assets and develop strategies for the community to review at the upcoming forum.

The community is encouraged to come to the March 20 forum to reconvene and work together to support our community.

In partnership with Polk County Local Government’s Consolidated Human Services Agency, the forum is being sponsored by Polk County Schools, the Polk County Board of Commissioners, the Kiwanis Club of Tryon and St. Luke’s Hospital.

Refreshments will be available at the forum. Please register through this page if you plan to attend.
