The Polk County Board of Commissioners issued a Proclamation of a County State of Emergency on Sept. 10.
“A County State of Emergency Proclamation is issued if an event has the potential of depleting emergency services, or has the potential of causing a disruption to local government that could put the public in danger,” Emergency Management Director/Fire Marshal Bobby Arledge said. “It allows the County the option to request State aid to supplement local resources.”
Signed by Board of Commissioners Chairman Jake Johnson, the Proclamation states that the Commissioners determined a State of Emergency because of the populations impacts of the 2018 World Equestrian Games and the potential impacts from Hurricane Florence.
