Polk County’s Doughboy Statue in Columbus prepared for annual inspection and cleaning

Polk County Local Government’s maintenance department has set up scaffolding around Polk County’s Doughboy Statue in Columbus for its annual inspection and cleaning tomorrow.

Located at the entrance of Courthouse Street, the statue depicts a World War I soldier. The statue was put up in 1925 to commemorate veterans and was paid for by area students and citizens.

Preventive Conservation Specialist Kara Warren will conduct the annual inspection and cleaning of the statue.
