The monthly Polk County Friends of Agriculture Breakfast on Wednesday, April 17 will focus on silvopasture systems and how they can benefit Western North Carolina farming systems.
The free breakfast meeting starts at 7 a.m. at the Green Creek Community Center at 25 Shields Dr. in Tryon and will feature Dr. Mary Bulan from Warren Wilson College.
Breakfast attendees are encouraged to promote sustainability by bringing their own coffee mugs and another for someone else attending.
Sponsored by the Polk County Farm Bureau, the Friends of Agriculture Breakfasts are hosted by Polk County’s Office of Agricultural Economic Development for local farmers, gardeners and food enthusiasts. These free events are held the third Wednesday of every month between September and May at the Green Creek Community Center and feature a delicious local food breakfast and an educational speaker on areas of interest to our agricultural community.
