For public safety updates and advisories, continue to visit Polk County Local Government’s news and information site, follow the County’s Facebook and Twitter pages and sign up for NIXLE text alerts. 

“We understand concerns about the potential impacts from Hurricane Florence,” Polk County Manager Marche Pittman said. “The possibility of this or other inclement weather was considered throughout planning for the World Equestrian Games, which are underway and are being held through Sept. 23 in Polk County. We are fully prepared for this possibility and are collaborating with state and local government, community partners, the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) and the Tryon International Equestrian Center to monitor conditions.”

To register for NIXLE alerts, send a text message to 888777 with “WEG2018” in the message. If a message like “Access Denied” is received, visit and register. Particular mobile carriers may require this extra step. The only messages received through Nixle will be from public safety agencies.
