Polk County Tax Office and NCDMV tag office in Columbus temporarily closed to public Jan. 6 through 13

As a precautionary measure due to a COVID-19 exposure, the Polk County Tax Office and the NCDMV license plate office in Columbus will be temporarily closed to the public from Wednesday, Jan. 6 through Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Polk County tax payments and tax-related documents may be dropped off at a drop box outside the department’s office at 51 Walker St. Payments and documents also may be mailed to: Polk County Tax Office, PO Box 308 Columbus, NC 28722. Please note that the drop box cannot be used for DMV payments.

Polk County Tax Office and DMV staff will be available to answer questions by phone at (828) 894-8500 during the weekday office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Polk County Tax Office and NCDMV tag office in Columbus will reopen to the public on Thursday, Jan. 14.
