Citizens honoring military veterans at Veterans Day events throughout Polk County

Monday, November 11 is Veterans Day and the Polk County Local Government offices will be closed in observance of the national holiday honoring United States military veterans.

Throughout the weekend and on Monday, citizens are invited to join in honoring military veterans at community events throughout Polk County.

SATURDAY, NOV. 9: From 7 to 9 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 9, the Sunny View Clubhouse at 95 Coopers Gap Road is hosting a breakfast free for veterans.

SUNDAY, NOV. 10: The Foothills Community Chapel at 2720 Landrum Road in Columbus will have a Veterans Day Appreciation Service at 10 a.m., Sunday followed by lunch.

VETERANS DAY, MONDAY, NOV. 11: A Veterans Day Parade starts at 10 a.m., Monday at the Food Lion and ends at the Veterans Park in Columbus.

Columbus Baptist Church at 45 Houston Road in Columbus is hosting a Free Veterans Lunch at noon on Monday for veterans and their spouses.

In Saluda, there will be a ceremony and the laying of the wreath at 3 p.m., Monday.

Monday night at the Mill Spring VFW, a special snack time will be held at 6:30 p.m. before the meeting.
