Veterans Day Parade being held in Columbus on Monday, Nov. 12

A Veterans Day parade will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 12 on Mills Street in Columbus with a veterans ceremony following at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park.

Polk County and the Town of Columbus were both selected by the Veterans Day National Committee of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a Regional Site for the celebration of Veterans Day 2018.

The Patriots Salute to Veterans Association, a subsidiary of the Polk County Veterans Association, is hosting a Veterans Day parade on Mills Street at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 12. After the parade, a veterans ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park.

The Polk County Veterans Association is comprised of American Legion Post 250 and the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 9116 and Post 10349 as well as their Auxiliary Units.

Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend and participate in the parade and ceremony. Association members approved having the parade on Monday – the National Holiday – instead of Veterans Day on Sunday, Nov. 11 so more Polk County youth and businesses could participate in the event.
