Several years ago, the Polk County Historical Association presented a list of the county’s 10 most historic wonders.

According to the Polk County Historical Association, the1859 Polk County Courthouse was selected as the top, or most important, historic wonder, with the Basin Spring (or the original Mills’ spring) as the second highest historic wonder.
Three of the wonders on the list, including the Courthouse, Alexander’s Ford, and the Lake Adger dam, are all owned by the county government.
