Board of Commissioners receive proposed budget for fiscal year 2023-2024

The Polk County Board of Commissioners held a special meeting on Monday, May 8, where the commissioners received the proposed budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year from County Manager Marche Pittman.

The proposed budget includes a 2-cent increase from the current property tax rate and all revenue raised by this increase is designated to go to Polk County School Operations.

The budget also recommends a county-wide pay increase that would go into effect in January.

There will be a public hearing regarding the budget at 5 p.m. on June 5 and the budget will be on the agenda for adoption during the Polk County Board of Commissioners’ regularly scheduled meeting at 5 p.m. on June 19.

If approved, the budget will go into effect July 1. The total proposed budget for the county is $41,307,888.
