Beginning at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 30, a burn ban is in effect for all of Polk County due to dangerous fire conditions.

Under the authority of the Polk County Emergency Operations plan and fire prevention plan, all outdoor burning within 100 feet of a structure is now prohibited.

The ban shall remain in effect until cancelled.

This local ban is in conjunction with the statewide burn ban recently issued by the N.C. Forest Service.
