Polk County Emergency Management has plans to assist Polk County residents prepare for the unexpected.
A Community Preparedness Fair is set for 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19 at Stearns Park in Columbus.
“The purpose of the fair is to educate the community on how to be prepared for the many different types of disasters that we could face,” said Emergency Management Director Bobby Arledge.
Polk County Emergency Management, Polk County EMS, American Red Cross, Thermal Belt Outreach, 1-800- BOARD-UP, Columbus Fire Department, and North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal have all confirmed that they will be at the event.
“I have invited many agencies to be a part of the fair to set up a booth and pass out helpful preparedness materials,” Arledge said. “This is something I would like to do annually just to help with the education of the community.”
