Counselors available to assist with Medicare questions, enrolling

Medicare’s open enrollment period has begun and Polk County Senior Center has trained counselors who can assist with any questions about your coverage.

The Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) offers free, unbiased information about Medicare and can assist Polk County residents with enrollment and subsidy applications that could save you money. SHIIP counselors can help if you are new to Medicare, need help comparing Medicare Advantage and Part-D plans, have questions about your coverage, or assist in finding the best Medicare Prescription Drug Plan for you.

Medicare’s open enrollment period lasts from October 15 to December 7, and changes to your insurance plan will be effective on January 1, 2022.

To schedule an appointment with a trained SHIIP counselor, call 828-894-0001. At this time, all appointments will be conducted over the phone.
