Recently a Polk County employee participated in a career day at Polk Central Elementary School.

Greg Wyatt, who serves as an Information Technology Technician for the County, was at the school to discuss the field of IT and what he does each day.

According to the school’s website, career exploration is an important topic for elementary students. Introducing young children to potential career options early on in school can keep students focused and engaged in subjects throughout middle and high school.

These events are also a great place to place an emphasis on broadening student horizons. Schools bring in inspirational speakers to share their stories can help students realize potential careers.
