Duke Energy recently sent out the following message:

To help provide more reliable service to your community, you may soon see our team flying drones in your area to inspect the overhead lines and other electrical equipment. Our trained and licensed drone pilots are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and will be in Duke Energy-branded vehicles, have company IDs, and be wearing personal protective equipment.

Our drones are piloted remotely and our crews are specifically trained to collect only necessary data to improve the safety and reliability of our electric infrastructure. As a safety precaution, if you see our workers, please avoid approaching or interrupting the flight operation.
