Farmer’s Market vendors showcase food, wares at recent Commissioners meeting

Attendees at a recent Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting received a special surprise from local farmer’s market vendors.

Sample foods were selected and served by Agricultural Economic Development Director Dawn Jordan. This showcase featured fresh local food from farms across the area like Rose’s Best, Hawk Hill Farm, Peach Country, Pinch Spice Blends, Tipton Farm, and Charlene’s Garden. Several artisanal crafts were also on display like birdhouses, wooden cutting boards, knit pieces, and pottery. Farmer’s markets in Polk County are supported by the Polk County Community Foundation.

The Summer market season runs from May through October at Saluda and Columbus. The Saluda Tailgate Market, which is located on West Main Street near downtown, is open every Friday from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The Columbus Farmer’s Market is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon on Courthouse Street. Please learn more by signing up for our newsletter at www.polkcountyfarms.org.
