The filing period for local municipal elections has opened for any candidate interested in pursuing a seat.

Elections for the Town of Columbus, City of Saluda and Town of Tryon will be held Nov. 5, 2024. The filing period for those elections ends at noon on July 19.

The filing fee is $5, payable at filing. Any candidate that raises or spends money or makes a public announcement that they intend to run must file campaign finance paperwork with the Polk County Board of Elections within 10 days of the announcement.

The following seats will be contested in the 2024 municipal election:

Town of Columbus: Mayor (one seat, two-year term); Council (three seats, four-year term for winner, two-year term for second and third place)

City of Saluda: Board of Commissioners (two seats, four-year term).

Town of Tryon: Mayor (one seat, four-year term), Council (two seats, four-year terms; one seat, unexpired term, two years).
