Deep Woods Fire Update

March 20, 2025 8:48 am – The Deep Woods Fire has burned 50 acres and is at 0% containment. No structures have been damaged. No evacuation orders are in place. This fire is located off Piney Mountain Rd which is off Holbert Cove Rd. The cause of this fire is unknown and is currently under investigation.

Black Cove Fire Update

March 20, 2025 8:48am The Black Cove Fire, which originated off of Green River Cove Rd, has burned 200 acres and is at 0% containment. No structures have been damaged. No evacuations orders in place. North Carolina Forest Service and Polk County Emergency Management area managing these fires in unified command. Dry weather, steep terrain and winds overnight are making fire control efforts challenging.
