Friends of Agriculture Breakfast set for Wednesday, April 20

The guest speaker for this month’s Friends of Agriculture Breakfast will be a local apple farmer from TK Family Farm.

The meal will take place at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20 at the Green Creek Community Center (25 Shield Drive, Tryon).

Jon Kilmstra, who will be the speaker, and his wife, Brittany, planted the first apple trees on their farm in 2016 and have added more than 3,000 trees and a packing line since then. They operate Polk County’s only retail apple stand and can also be found at local farmers’ markets.

Our breakfast menu will include hot cross buns from Martha’s Amish Bakery, Jams and Jellies from PapakolneybraysPendragon Produce microgreens, eggs from Lukens Land and Cattle, sausage and bacon from Colfax Creek Farm, and various fixin’s from the Mills Spring Farm Store.

In an effort to be sustainable, please bring your own coffee mug and plate. A complimentary breakfast will be served.

Friends of Agriculture Breakfast is held on the third Wednesday of every month September through May.
