Have you noticed spots in Polk County’s rivers, creeks or streams where vegetative debris is blocking the flow of water?
If so, there may be a way to have this remedied.
Polk County’s Soil and Water Conservation District Director, Kelly Gay, recently told the Polk County Board of Commissioners that the County had been awarded a grant to clear these types of blockages.
Now the County needs help finding where the problem areas are. If you are interested in having an area considered, please submit photo(s) along with latitude and longitude of exact location(s) to kgay@polknc.org. The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 24.
Submissions will be run through a scoring matrix and prioritized. Projects that rank high for potential funding will require site visits and a road access agreement from landowner(s).
If you have any questions, please e-mail Ms. Gay at kgay@polknc.org.
