Help with wildfire mitigation services available to Polk residents

Polk County is one of eight counties in Western North Carolina that is part of a Wildfire Mitigation Cost-Share program through the Mountain Valleys Resource Conservation and Development Council.

The point of the program is to remove dead vegetation, prune branches, thin trees and brush and clean gutters.

In order to receive 40-percent off the cost of these services, homeowners must apply online with their current home assessment and a contractor’s quote, then sign an agreement and pay the contractor in full after the work is completed, and then submit a proof of payment to receive the reimbursement.
