Hurricane preparedness week is May 4-10

It’s been more than six months since wind and rain from Hurricane Helene damaged Western North Carolina, but hurricane season is set to start again.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Atlantic and central Pacific hurricane season (includes Hawaii) officially runs June 1 through November 30. The eastern Pacific hurricane season runs from May 15 to November 30.

Now, though, is the time to prepare.
