More lane closures on I-26, due to the ongoing I-26 construction project, have been announced that could affect Polk County drivers traveling through Henderson and Buncombe counties.

On Wednesday, March 1, and Friday, March 3, Eastbound lanes will be closed from Exit 44 to 53. The detour will include Asheville Highway (U.S. 25 South) to U.S. 176 to Upward Road to rejoin I-26 at Exit 53.

On Thursday, March 2, Westbound lanes from Exit 49 to 40 will be closed. The detour will be: follow U.S. 64 West to Asheville Highway (U.S. 25 South), continue to Hendersonville Road to Airport Road to rejoin I-26 at Exit 40.

These lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The start time will depend on traffic volumes and will be adjusted accordingly and plans may be altered depending weather conditions.
