More lane closures on I-26, due to the ongoing I-26 construction project, have been announced that could affect Polk County drivers traveling through Henderson and Buncombe counties.

On Thursday, April 27, there will be a detour for eastbound traffic between exits 44 to 53. The detour route will be: I-26 at Exit 44, follow Asheville Highway (U.S. 25 South) to U.S. 176 to Upward Road to rejoin I-26 at Exit 53. 

These lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The start time will depend on traffic volumes and will be adjusted accordingly and plans may be altered depending weather conditions. Friday, April 28, will serve as a back-up date.
