Local non-profit to host informational meeting about affordable housing

Housing Assistance, a nonprofit that works in safe and affordable housing in Western North Carolina, is hosting a town hall-style informational meeting to better inform Polk County residents of its purpose.

The next meeting is set for 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, April 21, at Columbus Town Hall. This session is a time to discuss the services Housing Assistance provides and for potential homeowners to begin the application process for programs.

According to its website, “the Housing Assistance Corporation is a private, non-profit organization committed to providing safe and affordable housing for persons of limited income living in Henderson County, North Carolina and surrounding areas, because we believe every human being deserves the opportunity to live in a decent home.”

The nonprofit has recently begun to build homes in Polk County and is searching for applicants interested in becoming homeowners.
