A little extra shine has been put on a local memorial.

The monument that lists names of Polk County men and women who died in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam was a little hard to read until recently.

Located on the Courthouse lawn, the marker now showcases the names more clearly.

As we near Veterans Day, on November 11, maybe it is time to check out this list of honorable men and women who fought for our freedoms.
