More lane closures on I-26 planned for the next two weeks

Another round of lane closures will occur on I-26 during the next two weeks due to construction and if you’re headed toward Asheville or coming from Asheville, these may impact you.

Here’s the details about the coming week:

On Sunday (March 20) and Monday (March 21) the Eastbound lanes from Exit 33 to Exit 40 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The following week has more closures, as the Eastbound lanes from Exit 33 to Exit 37 will be closed from Sunday (March 27) to Wednesday (March 30).

This operation will begin with rolling roadblocks on I-40 East and I-240 West/I-26 East.  

 U.S. 25 (Hendersonville Road) from I-40 to Fletcher at I-26 (Exit 44) will serve as the primary marked detour route.

Access from I-40 (both directions) to I-26 East will be closed, and I-240 West/I-26 East traffic will exit at Brevard Road.

More information on the detour:

All traffic will be routed to U.S. 25 (Hendersonville Road) 

— I-40 East to I-26 East Traffic: Will be directed to Exit 50 with on-ramp to I-26 closed 

— I-40 West to I-26 East Traffic: Will be directed to Exit 50 with on-ramp to I-26 closed 

— I-240 West/I-26 East Traffic: Will be detoured at Exit 33 to N.C. 191 North, to I-40 East to Exit 50.
