A contract for a Design-Build Replacement for Polk Bridge #13, which is located on Howard Gap Road over the North Pacolet River in Polk County, was recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation.

This bridge was closed after a storm in the spring of 2023.

NCDOT investigated the bridge and, according to an email, “determined that intensive repairs were required and beyond the capabilities of the NCDOT to repair in-house.” 

The expected completion date for the project is April 7, 2025, according to NCDOT.
