Polk County Center of NC Cooperative Extension offering free kudzu control classes

The Polk County Center of the NC Cooperative Extension is offering free training sessions at its offices at 79 Carmel Lane in Columbus about how to use pesticide to help control kudzu.

Pesticide Applicator Training – also known as the “L,X, N and D Pesticide Class” – will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb 25. This course is open to the public but is directed to pesticide applicators who will receive 2 hours of pesticide credit for participating. It also will provide 2 L credits for landscape contractors. A Kudzu Control Class for the public will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 28. The session will be less technical and will focus on smaller areas for homeowners. Registration is requested by calling (828) 894-8218 or emailing kerry_jones@ncsu.edu.

The Polk County Center of the NC Cooperative Extension has additional information about kudzu management. Agents are willing to come to individual properties to evaluate their issues to help them come up with their own best management practices.
