Polk County EMS’ new 4WD ambulance ready to roll

A new ambulance has been added to Polk County Emergency Medical Service’s fleet.

This four-wheel drive ambulance is a much-needed addition, due to increased call volume and the area’s mountainous terrain. Polk County EMS currently has a four-wheel drive ambulance, but it is getting older and has high mileage, according to EMS Director Michael Crater.

Crater said the new ambulance is a demo, “which means it was the ‘best of the best’ that the company takes to expos to show off,” has low mileage and has almost all of the current upgrades any EMS unit needs. Crater was able to secure this top-level ambulance at a lower cost due to it being a demo model.

Polk County EMS is currently looking to add new members to its team. If you’re interested, please click on this link to see the job postings.
