As Hurricane Ian continues its trek inland, please know that the governmental departments within Polk County are preparing in case of severe weather and flooding.
The greatest threats to citizens and visitors in Polk County will be high winds that could potentially cause power outages and fallen trees, flooding or flash flooding, and the possibility of severe storms along with isolated tornadoes.
Please note that the water level at Lake Adger will be dropped three (3) to five (5) feet to allow the reservoir to fill with the expected rainfall.
Polk County Emergency Service Agencies, along with county staff, will meet regularly and will continue to monitor the storm. The county will remain in contact with State Emergency Management and the National Weather Service to get the latest information on the track of the storm and local impacts.
