Over the past few weeks, Polk County Senior Services has seen an increase in the number of seniors needing services. For the month of April, Senior Services served more than 4,800 meals to seniors in Polk County. Senior Services thanks everyone in the community for their continued support during COVID-19. Your generosity allows Polk County Senior Services to continue serving our seniors to our greatest ability.
With social isolation being a new reality, it’s important more than ever for everyone to stay connected. Everyone is encouraged to help ensure our seniors are receiving the services and resources they need by helping in the ways described below.
(1) CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS: Take a few minutes and call your neighbors to check on them.
(2) SHARE POSITIVE MESSAGES: Spread positivity and post inspiring stories with others. Share positive messages of encouragement on social media and express your gratitude for those making a difference in our community.
(3) DONATE ITEMS IN NEED: Polk County Senior Services’ centers are looking for sanitizer, toilet paper, soap, garbage bags, incontinence supplies, paper towels and disinfecting wipes. Simply drop off supplies in the designated spot by the front door of The Meeting Place at 75 Carmel Lane in Columbus. Items will be disinfected and then distributed to seniors in need.
These are hard times for us all but no matter how far apart we may be, remember – we’re in this together. If you have any questions, please call (828) 894-0001.
