On Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, the black and white banner symbolizing the United States’ Prisoners of War and Missing in Action will be flown over the Polk County Courthouse in Columbus, the Polk County Veterans Brick Memorial, local United States post offices and other locations across Polk County.

The banners are being flown as reminders of the sacrifices made to defend the United States.

With September as Polk County POW/MIA Month and Sept. 18 as Polk County POW/MIA Recognition Day, the Polk County Memorial Veterans Post 9116 and Auxiliary urges all citizens to observe this day of honor and remembrance with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
