This week, from September 4 through September 10, is considered National Suicide Prevention Week and Polk County Health and Human Services wants to give residents the needed skills to save lives.

The department will give a free, in-person Suicide Prevention Training session on Thursday, September 22. There are two times for this training – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Training sessions will take place at WithALL Church (76 North Peak Street in Columbus).

Question, Persuade, Refer is an emergency response to someone in crisis. During the training, you will learn:

• How to ask the right questions about suicide
• How to persuade a person to get help
• How to refer an individual to the right resource
