Senior Center operating on altered schedule through June 13

Polk County Senior Center is operating an altered schedule through at least Friday, June 13. The Senior Center located at 75 Carmel Lane in Columbus suffered major water damage to half of the building due to a busted water line. As a result, the following alterations in operations will be in place through at least June 13.

  • Starting June 11, an alternative location for limited classes has been reserved at the Polk County Middle School’s Media Room (321 Wolverine Trail, Mill Spring, NC 28756)
  • The limited selection of classes will be available through Friday, June 13.
  • Wed: 12:45p-2:15p; Qi Gong at 1p and games available throughout the time period
  • Thurs: 10a-4:15p; Refit at 10:30a, Bridge at 12:30p, Euchre at 1:30p, other games available throughout the time period
  • Fri: 10a-2:15p; bingo at 10:30a, Qi Gong at 1p, other games available throughout the time period
  • Participants should contact transportation if they should need a ride to the middle school to participate in an activity.
  • Share Thy Bread will also take place on Wednesday at 11:15a on the back patio of the center as scheduled.
  • Participants can pick up groceries and leave the center afterwards.
  • All congregate meal participants will still have access to meals June 10th through 13th, but meals will be for pick-up only. Participants must call a head the morning of the meal pick-up to RSVP.
  • Home Delivered Meals (MOW) will continue uninterrupted at this time.
  • Veteran Services, has temporarily relocated to Polk County HHSA Administrative Offices located at 2881 NC HWY 108 E, Columbus NC, 28722.
