The grand opening celebration for a StoryWalk installation at Polk County’s Stearns Park is set for 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 19.

StoryWalk™ is a unique way to tell a story and enjoy the outdoors. Pages of the book are laminated and posted on wooden stakes along an outdoor path. The first book for this StoryWalk is Airlie Anderson’s “Cat’s Colors,” which tells the story of a small cat that collects colors on a grey day.

Along with a ribbon cutting at the grand opening there will be balloon twister by Professor Whizzpop, games, crafts, and more activities. The event is free.

Polk County’s StoryWalk installation is a collaboration between Polk County Public Libraries and Polk County Parks & Recreation.

Also, the ribbon cutting ceremony will serve as a kickoff party for Polk County Libraries’ Summer Learning Program, which has an animal theme and is titled “Tails & Tales.”
