More lane closures on I-26 have been announced that could affect Polk County drivers traveling through Henderson and Buncombe counties.

On Thursday, August 18, Westbound lanes will be closed from Exit 44 to 40. The detour will include Hendersonville Road and Airport Road.

On Sunday, August 21, Westbound lanes from Exit 40 to 37 will be closed. The detour will be Airport Road to Hendersonville Road to Long Shoals Road.

On Thursday, August 25, and Friday, August 26, the Eastbound lanes from Exit 44 to 53 will be closed. The detour will be Asheville Highway (US 25) to US 176 to Upward Road.

These lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The start time will depend on traffic volumes and will be adjusted accordingly and plans may be altered depending weather conditions.
