Website allows addresses to be checked for potential new broadband service

There’s now a way to check and see if your address will be one of the 1,350 locations across Polk County where broadband service will be available from Charter Communications through the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (“RDOF”).

If you’re interested to see about your address, go to www.SpectrumRuralExpansion.com, where you will be prompted to type in your address to see if it is in a RDOF area and if it is, then you can sign up to receive email updates as the projects progress.

A timeline for when the Polk County project will begin isn’t known, but the RDOF specifies that work must be complete in six years. Also required is that Charter Communications must have 40 percent of the project completed after year three and the remaining completed in the six-year window with various benchmarks throughout.

The website isn’t just a place to check on your address, but there’s also a spot where frequently asked questions are answered by Charter Communications and Spectrum.
