WIC Services in Polk County to operate by phone during coronavirus pandemic

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) of Polk County has suspended all in-person appointments until further notice but will continue to operate by phone during the coronavirus pandemic.

WIC provides healthy foods that are essential to meet nutritional needs of pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers, postpartum mothers, infants and children under the age of 5.

During this crisis, many people likely will be eligible who previously were not eligible, especially those who have recently lost their jobs or are now on unemployment.

To ask questions or enroll, call the local WIC office at (828) 894-8271. The phone line will remain open and food benefits are available the day of application.
