Work on the Peter Guice Memorial Bridge, which is located on I-26 in Henderson County and allows automobiles to go over the Green River, could slow traffic for Polk County residents heading toward Asheville.
Beginning on Oct. 21, the westbound lanes at the bridge were shrunk to 11-feet lanes and the speed limit dropped to 45 miles per hour. This is estimated to last six months, but could be longer depending on weather.
Please be advised of this and plan accordingly if you are using the westbound lanes in the coming months.
